"DOMINUS ILLUMINATION MEA" - The Lord is my light

COOL, isn't it?!

smells like a lot of work...

I only have four days left working for Siemens...what a strange feeling. I have worked for this great company for almost four years and there have been a lot of ups and downs during that time. I have learned a lot and many people have influenced me in several ways. I have also made friends and without Siemens I wouldn't have met my wonderful girlfriend Melina.
Astrid, a colleague who just returned from a year working for Siemens in Spain, will take over my place in the Sagunto project team. Right now I'm in the process of handing everything over to her. I tried not to leave a mess behind and I hope that everything is in the right order by the time I leave.
Anyways...like I said: only 4 more days!
Almost forgot...a big fat THANK YOU to all my future ex-colleagues out there whom I had the opportunity to work with, who shared their knowledge & experience with me and who made working enjoyable.

Last week I received a huge envelope in the mail from Wadham (my college). It contained several forms I have to sign and lots of information on the first 2 weeks. Exciting stuff...information sessions, Tea&Cookies in the MCR (Middle Common Room - "living room" for all graduate students of the college), Drinks in the MCR, a Wadham College Tour, an Oxford City Tour, a Croquet Session, Lunches, Dinners, a Pub Tour, a Jazz Night, a Club Night, a BBQ, a Meeting with Supervisor, a Movie Night, a Karaoke night, a Cocktail Night, a Brunch and:
-Fresher's Fair: all college & Oxford clubs introduce themselves and try to sign you up for their activities; and believe me, there are lots of clubs in Oxford - ranging from all kinds of sports clubs, cultural clubs, discussion clubs to food clubs, charity clubs, or business clubs
-my first BOP: a BOP is a university or college party (wasn't yet able to find a meaning behind the strange name though); my college (Wadham) is famous for its BOPs, esp. its "queer bop" (I'll post some pics if I have time to go there - and if I don't have the time? I think I'll manage a way to go there...I have to!!!); anyways, my first BOP will be the "school uniform BOP"...sounds like a lot of fun, doesn't it? Especially when thinking about how naughty some school uniforms look on a hot girl ;-)

Seems like Oxford is flooding me with information!

Apart from the huge envelope from Wadham, I received my password for an information website from the business school.
Holy ยง*+#!!!
Whe looking at the information website my MBA seems like it's gonna be a lot of work.
-even more stuff to do during the first two weeks: Introduction to Investment Banking & Management Consulting, a carreer briefing by alumnis, a team-building event, administrative information sessions, IT induction lessons, student introductions, etc.
-my timetable for Michaelmas (I can't believe they have a name for every trimester of the year); aawww GEEEEEZZZ!!! looks even more like A LOT of work
-course outlines for Finance 1, Decision Science, Financial Reporting, Strategy, Mangerial Economics, Developing Effective Managers
-reading lists...even more work
-my first assignment for my course on Financial Reporting; due upon the beginning of the course...guess what? yes, more work!

WOW!! I guess one of the current students was right when he answered my question on the workload of the Oxford MBA by saying: "Juergen, it helps when you don't sleep!"
